You look at the present moment. It presents a problem to you. You do not like it. It scares you.
You do not ask why. You do not inquire into or examine it. You merely react. Your reaction is to escape. Your escape is to hope.
You create a story around an imaginary future in your mind. A future in which all will be good. Your worries, problems and fears all gone. Your desires and wishes fulfilled.
You run away from the Now to take refuge in this future. One out of an infinite number of possible futures. One that will never be. Clinging to this story of hope, you decide to hide in the false and abandon the true. You choose belief and fantasy over that which is actual and real.
